COVID-19 Letter from Administrator- 4/27/20

To our Orchard View community,

Although the effects of the Covid-19 global pandemic continue to challenge the facility, I would like to report that we have made progress over the last couple of days towards the hiring and orienting of new staff to the facility in all departments. This has greatly improved the staffing levels on the units daily. The outpouring of support from the community, as well as from Mayor Dasilva have provided much needed assistance to the facility in its time of need. The donations of prepared meals from local restaurants and businesses to the staff who are working so hard has also been greatly appreciated.

The purpose of this message is to update everyone on the initiation of a weekly schedule of family call times where facility staff will be reaching out to families to update them on how their loved ones are doing. The schedule will be as follows:

Monday: Macintosh (A-Unit)

Tuesday: Baldwin (B-Unit)

Wednesday: Courtland (C-Unit)

Thursday: Gala (D-Unit)

It is my hope that providing a scheduled day for families from each unit to receive updates will help to streamline the flow of communication, which will allow the staff to be more efficient, as well as provide some predictability for families of knowing when the updates will be coming.

We will also be opening the town hall meetings back up on Tuesdays at 1:00pm.

The facility has also received additional i-pads and tablets so video chats can be conducted more frequently.

We as a facility can empathize with how difficult it is to be isolated from your loved one. Please know that we are working every day to care for them and keep them healthy and safe. This has been a very difficult time, but we will get through this, together.

Thank you.
